Different By Design is the moniker assigned to the inaugural year in the market of the fresh Slingshot rebrand. Tying the brands history to its future, this campaign encompassed new challenges for the creative department.

Over the past 25 years, we have seen the industry and our sports change right in front of our eyes. Our products, designers, and athletes have driven this change. The constant evolution and our unwavering commitment to being different and ahead of the curve makes Slingshot what it is today. We are not simply different, we are different by design; rebellious and obsessively designing, testing, and manufacturing the highest-performing equipment for the worldwide community of watersports addicts. If our next 25 years are anything like the first, it’s going to be a hell of a ride!
Different By Design
The Brief
Different By Design was one of the largest undertakings at the Slingshot Brand. The challenge was to completely rebrand all product with the new icon and simultaneously elevate our product design to increase brand visibility, build brand equity, and communicate design difference.
The Focus
The fundamental focus was to create a simple system of design kits that would help satisfy the brief. We created design systems that are simple, recognizable, and highly functional. Our hazard striping commands attention, and it also creates a simple system that is versatile on product.
The Role
After completing the brand redesign, we were instantly challenged with the implementation and design direction for the inaugural collection. We created all of the assets, oversaw and managed all creation and art ideation ensuring design was on brand, and functional and appealing for the consumer.















Different By Design has morphed from a design strategy and direction into a marketing campaign and a brand slogan. This is evident of the success of this undertaking. The design direction transfer seamlessly and easily into the marketing department and intern into the consumer’s minds.
